four to show, please.

Yesterday, we had a family day. Kevin and I wandered with three different destinations in mind--Volo Bog and Auto Museum (Kevin vetoed this), Brookfield Zoo (I vetoed this) and the lakefront by all the pretty museums (traffic vetoed this). So, we ended up taking Jonah to the track. The track for those of you who don't know is Arlington Park Race Track, and it's so way nicer than Churchill Downs. Now, I have never been to Churchill Downs but my dream is to go there someday and wear a funny hat.

Okay, so Jonah loved the park. He stared at the horses, wanted to eat the program, eat the picnic table, and eat whatever else he could grab. He was even pulling the grass and trying to eat it. Jonah got to spend some quality time with his friend Bill and his cousins, too. Auntie Kim, Uncle Adam, Sienna and Mia met us there. As the cool auntie that I am, I taught Sienna how to make a bet. She sweetly told Sal the ticket guy "four to show, please." I was so proud of her. And sure enough, that number four horse, So Busted, won the last race of the day!

Last night, after Jonah was asleep, Kevin and I went out alone for the first time since we got our dear, sweet Jonahbear. (Grandma probably listened with the baby monitor to her ear the whole time we were gone.) Kevin and I headed over to Capannari's for some ice cream. If I were to go on the show Check, please, I would recommend this mom and pop ice cream shoppe. Kevin pointed out that they don't feature dessert places on the show but I think ice cream can pass as dinner once in a while.

Did Jonah get to meet the crazy 400 lb. black lady that wears very revealing clothing?
